Arrest In Connection With Fire At Elderly And Disabled Home | Cigarettes-Shop.Us Tobacco News
PORTSMOUTH, New Hampshire (NEWS CENTER) - Police arrested a man in connection with a fire at a housing unit for the elderly and disabled that forced an evacuation in early December.
Rescue crews responded to a fire at Margeson Apartments on Middle Street on December 8th. The fire forced an evacuation of the 137 apartment building and a response from Portsmouth Fire.
Police have now arrested Thomas Perkins, 62, of Portsmouth.
He is not charged with intentionally starting the fire.
Perkins does, however, face two misdemeanor charges of Reckless COnduct and Criminal Mischief. Such crimes carry a fine of up to $1,200. There is no potential for jail time.
Police say Perkins was smoking cigarettes cigarettes in the apartment, a no smoking cigarettes building, placing other residents of the unit in danger of serious bodily injury. Police say one of his Cheap Cigarettes Online started the fire and that Perkins failed to extinguish the fire or even raise an alarm.
Perkins was released on $2,000 Personal Recognizance bail on the condition that he not smoke cigarettes on Porstmouth Housing Property and not use alcohol.
